Ballyhegan officials launch search for umpires

GAELIC GAMES BALLYHEGAN officials would like to hear from members interested in joining the national ladies’ referees’ panel.

Kieran McKeever is searching for six umpires to cover National League and Championship fixtures.

FORTHCOMING club fixtures are as follows (play in the underage programme is set to start on Monday, April 8):

BOYS (UNDER 14s) Feile Shield round one – Ballyhegan v St Enda’s (Saturday, February 23). Feile Shield quarter-finals – Ballyhegan\St Enda’s v Carrickcruppin/Madden/St Paul’s (date to be confirmed).

BOYS (UNDER 16s) Division Three Championship round one – Tullysaran v Ballyhegan (date to be confirmed). Division Three Championship quarter-finals – Tullysaran/Ballyhegan v Belleek/Corrinshego (date to be confirmed).

BOYS (MINORS) Division Three Championship quarter-finals – Ballyhegan v Derrynoose/Carrickcruppin (date to be confirmed).

IRISH classes for beginners will run each Wednesday evening in the clubrooms from 8.30, with everyone welcome.

A ‘NIGHT At The Races’ will take place on Saturday, March 9 in The Famous Grouse.

The evening is set to feature a series of sponsored races, with everyone welcome to attend.

THE latest numbers in the club lotto are 3, 26, 27 and 28 and 7, 12, 14 and 22.

The jackpot now stands at £2,650 – with Fiona Murphy, Orla McKeever, Vincent Toner and Robert Tiffney the Three-Ball winners.

LISA Knox, a player on the senior ladies’ panel, is currently making and selling occasion cards – with all proceeds in aid of club funds.

THURSDAYS: Winter circuits (youths 7-8 o’clock, £1; adults 8.15-9.15, £3). FRIDAYS: Kettlebells Blast (6.30-7.45, £3). SUNDAYS: Functional Training (11-12 o’clock, £4).

ANNAGHMORE club membership is due.

Gym membership will cost £50 for adults or a £30 student rate.

ANNAGHMORE, in partnership with Down Armagh Rural Transport (DART), will be hosting accredited Driver Safety and Awareness Training as part of Right Tracks.

Funded by the Department of the Environment, the project is delivered free to participants and aimed specifically for drivers aged 18-24 years old or over 69.

A number of places remain open, with the course to run in Annaghmore Community Hall from 9 o’clock.

IRISH Dancing will be held each Tuesday from 6-7 o’clock.

CIRCUITS for ladies (7 o’clock start) and men (8 o’clock start) take place every Wednesday at the cost of £2 per session.

TIR NA NOG training details for underage players have been confirmed to start as follows:

FRIDAY, MARCH 1: under sixes (7 o’clock start); under eights and under 10s (8 o’clock start) - Drumcree College.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27: boys’ under 12s (7 o’clock start) – Churchill MUGA.

THURSDAYS: girls’ under 12s and girls’ under 14s (5.45 start) – Scout Den.

SUNDAYS: minors (1 o’clock start) – in the park.

TRAINING will continue at Drumcree School each Sunday morning for the boys’ under 13s and under 14s.

THE under 16s will train each Sunday (in the park from 1.30) and Thursday (in the Scout Den from 7 o’clock).
