ANDY Fitzsimons’ consistency at Carrickblacker over 2012 has left him as Player of the Year.

A run of 12 gross wins around the Portadown course proved decisive on top of the highest number of birdies, most rounds under the summer standard scratch and position as a Scratch Matchplay finalist.

The Christmas Cup - cancelled last weekend - will now run tomorrow (Saturday), with starting times available in the Pro Shop.

The Clubworld New Year Tournament is set to start on Sunday, January 13. The format will feature eight weeks of Stableford qualifying before leading players across the four sections enter the matchplay singles.

To sign up, visit the Pro Shop and nominate a day for play.

The club captain, Billy Gillis, would like to thank Delia Aston and Stephen Aston of Clubworld Travel for providing New Year sponsorship.

LADIES’ NOTES

MAY Crealey’s Lady Captain’s Christmas Stableford was held over 10 holes recently - with Edna Gribben out in front on 25 points.

Thelma Simpson finished as runner-up in difficult weather conditions by posting 24 points, with Karen Shaw third on 23 courtesy of the countback at Pat Jelly’s expense.

The post-Christmas schedule will feature a weekly competition from Wednesday, January 2 to Tuesday, February 26.
