Countback the key

ERIC Lavery and Damien O’Hare picked up top spot on Saturday in Tandragee’s Johnston Shield.

The Ulster Carpets-sponsored competition placed Lavery and O’Hare home first with 32 points over 12 holes.

Brendan Mallon and Pat O’Connor also posted 32 points but missed out on honours in week five courtesy of the countback.

Mark Upton and Gary Upton linked up to put 31 points on the board.

With the course closed on Sunday, officials have designated the final week of play as running from Saturday, February 16 to Friday, February 22.
