Hull home in first place at the ’Blacker
MELVIN Hull collected the Christmas Cup at Carrickblacker on Saturday to capture the year’s final prize.
A tally of 27 points placed Hull clear at the head of the standings over 11 holes - with his highlight an eagle at the par-four third. Hull also recorded a birdie at the par-three fifth hole.
Kenny Guy continued his strong run of form with 26.5 points to claim runners-up spot.
Terry Sandford topped the list of three players on 26 points apiece - with the countback system helping him edge in front.
Andrew Poole finished sixth after struggling across the final three holes.
TOMORROW’S (Saturday’s) competition will be a Seven-Club Challenge on a single Stableford format. Gordon Willis, the course convenor, would appeal to all players to carry clubs to protect the course conditions.
Winter League starting times will apply.
ON Saturday, January 12, Carrickblacker will stage a fourball betterball Stableford with Winter League times, once again, designated.
THE Clubworld Travel-sponsored New Year tournament is set to start on Sunday, January 13, with eight weeks of qualifying for the singles matchplay stages. Visit the Pro Shop for an entry form.
