Keenan claims top spot around Tandragee

Keenan posted legs of 20 and 21 to edge out Allen Morton and Peter Duke.

Simon Muldrew’s tally of 39 wrapped up fourth on countback success against Michael Connor, with Neale Conn winner of the gross.

The Yellow Block competition was won by James Pedlow off his 15 handicap with 43 points. Pedlow’s playing partner, Dave Clayton, finished as runner-up on 41.

In the ladies’ section, Suzy Walsh added to her run of fine form with victory in the Myrtle Nelson Memorial.

Walsh won by six over Margaret Kerr and Barbara Ward.

Tandragee’s Junior Cowdy players played host to Rossmore and won three of the four matches for a 13-hole advantage.

Ashley McConville and Matthew Leckey won 6 and 4, James Anderson and Paul McKenna came out on top by 4 and 3, team captain James Brannigan joined with Garry Mallon for success by 7 and 6.

Paul Moody and Philip Mehaffey lost by 4 and 3.

In the Fred Daly, Tandragee hit the road to Holywood for a first-leg test that resulted in one point from five. David Cunningham, Jake Rowe and Edward Rowe lost out - with half-point returns for Cameron Fox and Peter Taylor.

The return is on July 3.

The Rossmore Cup team, led by William Robinson, played host to Nuremore.

Tandragree finished one hole up overall thanks to a win on the 15th for James Girvan and Des Edgar and last-hole success by Colin Rooney and Don Johnston.

The pairings of Joe Campbell and Paul Whitten and Colin Holmes and Colin Hyndes each proved impressive without the rewards. The away leg has been planned for Sunday.

In the ladies’ Myrtle Nelson Memorial, Suzy Walsh won the main prize. Lady captain Linda Weir made the presentations, with Margaret Kerr runner-up.

The ladies’ section can celebrate 23 players having completed the ‘Get Into Golf’ programme.

The programme lasted more than two months, with a five-week tuition programme provided by Tandragee club professional Dympna Keenan.
