Ace Nixon home top of Tandragee field’s Club Stableford leaderboard

Kenny Nixon was the top player around Tandragee during last weekend’s Club Stableford.

Playing off his 28 handicap, Nixon posted 42 points for first - with three players home on 41.

Robin Hanlon was runner-up thanks to a back-nine score of 22 points.

Graham Harvey’s position was settled on the final hole as he finished ahead of Harry Thompson.

Stephen McGarry moved past Don Johnston over the back-nine countback to complete the top six.

Fred Sands was the leading senior on 37 points, with Ross Dutton the gross winner thanks to his two-under-par round of 69.

Dutton moved past the front nine in his one-over-par score, with a three-under-par display during the return leg.

The Sunday Stableford featured David Armstrong in first on 40 points.

He proved the pick of the field by a single point over Gerald Mullen, with the runner-up second thanks to a three-hole countback defeat of James Armstrong.

In the Friday Open Stroke, Brendan Mallon was first with 68 nett and Damien O’Hare had to settle for second.

Colin McKillop won the Saturday round of the PGA Tankard qualifying event on 64 nett thanks to a two-over-gross score off his 10 handicap.

James Girvan was on the same score but lost out over the back-nine countback, with 32 nett compared to McKillop’s 31 nett.

Stanley Black finished third on 65 nett and Michael Scott was next in line with 66 nett over David Keenan’s 67 nett and Joe Campell. Keenan picked up 31 nett on the back nine.

David Beattie was the leading senior on 70 nett, with James Hewitt the pick of the gross field.

The Sunday round of the PGA Tankard qualifying left Colin Hyndes first with 62 nett off his 14 handicap.

Geoff Gray was second with 69 nett at the expense of Richard McGivern.

Gray scored 35 nett and McGivern posted 36 nett.

Colin Hyndes had the leading weekend score to secure a spot in the PGA Tankard ProAm.

In the ladies’ section, Elizabth Fleming and Karen Shaw won the Australian Spoons qualifier on 38 points.

The gross qualifiers featured Lavern Saunders and Ruby Harvey out in front.
