Eddie Atkinson picked up the Monday Seniors prize thanks to 25 points across 12 holes at Carrickblacker.

Maurice Cushnie finished first across the low section on 23.5 points and Graham Patterson was winner of the high section with 24.5 points.

Eddie Bell claimed the prize for veterans thanks to 20.5 points.

The opening week of the Clubworld Travel New Year Tournament was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions.

Portadown’s Greensomes competition will now run across a reduced timeline of seven weeks of qualifying before the three-week Matchplay section.

The greensomes format allows both players to tee off, with the best tee shot selected and that ball then played on alternate shots until holed.

The 12-hole event will feature weekly prizes and an overall honour, plus a ‘Twos’ Club.

To sign up contact the Pro Shop at Carrickblacker.

TANDRAGEE

The New Year Shield at Tandragee featured Michael Lyons as a winner with 32 points from his 12-hole round.

Perry Small had 31 points to come home as runner-up.

A string of players registered 30 points, with David Keenan top of the countback system on 17 across the back six.

Brendan Mallon followed in the running order on 16 points, with 15 putting John Hanna in fifth courtesy of nine from the final three holes.

The Johnston Shield opened last weekend but snow disrupted the schedule so play across the first week has been extended until today (Friday).

Anyone unable to take part last week can still sign up and compete across the full qualifying programme. The second of six weeks will then start tomorrow (Saturday) - allowing for potential weather disruptions.
