The fourth annual Ballyhegan Park ‘n’ Stride meeting provided a significant charity boost and helped to raise awareness of the rural club as over 100 participants provided support.

With options to tackle the Loughgall Country Park setting across distances of 10 or five kilometres, the family atmosphere helped add to the occasion staged in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Centre.

Results from the night were as follows: 10k male - Mark Cornett (38:39), 10k female - Natalie Hall (43:00); 5k male - Lee Maginnis (19:37), 5k under 16s - Hannah Cochrane (21:57); 10k clubperson - Sean McNally (42:42).

Thanks go to The Famous Grouse (sponsorship), House Of Sport (prizes), Loughgall Country Park (hosts), Simpyfruit (fruit packs) and everyone who offered backing as volunteers, supporters or competitors.

The three-day Summer Scheme also proved a major positive within the Ballyhegan club calendar.

Proceeds will go towards the Ballyhegan playgroup and to Father Oliver Brennan for the hall fund.
