Tandragee’s Natalie Bowbanks will turn her love of running towards a special cause this month in Gosford Forest Park.

Bowbanks wrapped up her 14th marathon last weekend by returning from the Isle of Man as the overall female runner-up.

However, her motivation extends beyond any race position and views the Gosford meeting as a chance to celebrate the family feel within the sport.

“I have done 14 marathons over the past five years or so and love the challenge but also the sense of family among the other athletes,” said Bowbanks. “I went over to the Isle of Man with Diane Woods from the Birches and Armagh’s Clive Nesbitt.

“The friends I have made thanks to running are unreal and I would recommend the sport to anyone as everyone is full of encouragement.

“Next up is the Gosford marathon on August 29 and all support would be welcome for this good cause.

“I would not normally take on another marathon so soon but want to give my support to Larry Maguire and Stevie McGeown.

“They have tackled 100 marathons in 100 days for charity and the Gosford event is the final stop.

“Everyone is welcome to sign up and help out, with the 10-kilometre run and half-marathon distance also part of the event.

“Everyone can take part on such a great occasion.”
