Anglers from Portadown, Loughgall and Richhill will compete for World Championship honours this weekend at Craigavon Lakes against nine rival nations.

The 13th Predator Bank Fishing with Lures competition tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday is expected to feature anglers from Portugal, Croatia, Latvia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France, Russia, Italy and Romania alongside the hosts.

Portadown’s Colin Rutherford will operate as team delegate beside competitors Andrew Powell (Richhill) and Lindsay McFadden (Loughgall), with angling from 10-2 o’clock each day and everyone welcome.

“It is wonderful to have this fantastic competition on our doorstep and we would encourage both fishing enthusiasts and those maybe not so familiar with the sport to come along and witness at first hand the exceptional skill,” said the Lord Mayor, Councillor Darryn Causby. “We look forward to extending a very warm welcome to the nations and hope they enjoy their angling experiences on our beautiful lakes and maybe even get a bit of time to explore this wonderful area too.

“So come on down, enjoy an alternative day out and show Team Ireland your support!”
