Portadown head coach Richard Hedley has issued a warning to his senior squad to move on from back-to-back defeats by Clogher Valley.
The cup road trip reverse and last weekend’s 32-11 league loss on home soil served up a double blow to team progress.
However, Hedley is refusing to dwell on the setbacks and remains determined to get back on track tomorrow (Saturday) against CIYMS.
“We need a positive performance to avoid getting into a run of defeats,” said Hedley. “We will have to be on top form against CIYMS and the goal is to obviously avoid another defeat.
“It is important to avoid letting those back-to-back results against Clogher flow into preparations for the next game.
“There has been a lot of disappointment over the past fortnight but the fixture list always offers another chance to get back on track.”
Hedley is quick to highlight a measure of improvement in the league display compared to the previous week’s knockout exit.
“It was a disappointing scoreline but I’m happy with aspects of the display.
“We made too many mistakes and failed to capitalise on some promising positions.
“However, it is about moving forward and both the firsts and seconds face big weekends after recent setbacks.”
