Heavy rainfall and strong winds reduced the comfort level of Saturday’s regatta - but results on the water left the meeting as one of the most memorable in recent seasons for Portadown Boat Club.

Six wins arrived for the hosts across the packed programme on the River Bann.

Alex Laivins, Louis Chambers, Sam McKeown, Dominic Murtagh, Robert Morrow, Amena Martin and Cathy Flack each proved the pick of the field.

The 120-race schedule attracted rowers from around Ireland - including Neptune, Bann and RBAI - as competitors pushed for honours from after 8 o’clock on Saturday morning.

“A lot of hard work went into the preparations and that dedication allowed us to keep everything on track despite the weather,” said Portadown Boat Club captain Stephen Donovan. “The support from our sponsors has always been excellent and this year it was a great boost to have Rushmere on board as main backers.

“Next up is the Queen’s regatta this weekend.
