Portadown-based Nigel Jackson pushed up the field at Tullyroan Oval to capture success across the Lightning Rods.

Jackson, a former World champion, was runner-up in the second heat but produced a winning performance during the main race.

The meeting’s highlight was the National Bangers Irish Team Championship - with ‘The Assassins’ from Republic of Ireland top of the 50-plus entry list.

Dave Haugh from the area helped ‘The Bomb Squad’ claim heat three.

Kyle Beattie and Aaron Ward won, respectively, support honours in the Superstox and Ninja Karts.

MOTORCYCLING

A quiz night in aid of the Tandragee 100 has been organised by North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club’s Tarmac section.

The event in Laurelvale Cricket Club tonight (Friday) is open to everyone from 8 o’clock.

The entry fee has been set at £5 per person, with a minimum of six players per team.

Proceeds will go towards the Around-A-Pound-backed road race - with entertainment also including a raffle and disco.

“Put your general knowledge to the test,” said North Armagh’s Anne Forsythe. “We are delighted to have Gerry Rice and Siobhan Rice of Around-A-Pound on board again this year.”
