Play has been extended across this season’s Winter League at Carrickblacker until Boxing Day.

The weekend’s course closure forced organisers to add another date on to the calendar in the Richardson’s Meats-sponsored showpiece.

Team Poole can enter the final fortnight sitting pretty at the head of the leaderboard thanks to 65 points in pursuit of the Gerry Brown Memorial Trophy.

The prize - awarded to the Winter League’s top team - would remain with the defending champions if positions hold until the close of the tournament.

Team Mackin sit second overall on 59 points, with Team Simpson next in line thanks to 51 points across third.

The race for the individual reward - the Montgomery Rosebowl - is set for a thrilling conclusion.

Based on 10 weeks of scoring, Andrew Poole and David Love share 160 points at present.

Poole is the captain of the leading overall team, with Love part of John Cassidy’s panel.

Both players sit on 160 points off eight cards to date.

Weekly winners are reminded that vouchers for Richardson’s Meats are available for collection in the Portadown clubhouse - hams can be picked up tomorrow (Saturday).

Tickets remain on sale for the Richardson’s Meats Winter League prize presentation on Saturday, January 9.

Contact John Cassidy or bar staff for further information.

The evening will include the presentation of the 2015 Player Of The Year award alongside entertainment and music in The Blacker Bar, plus a Night At The Races.
