Portadown remain in contention for a second successive NIBA promotion.

The Division Four newcomers hold a nine-point lead over third thanks to a superb run of results.

David Millsopp, Nixon Armstrong, Eric McCartney, Noel Orr, Eddie Bowles, Wayne Dougan, Robert Hobson, Robert Cassells, Errol Whitten and Noel Quinn proved in fine form during the latest success for Portadown B.

Portadown B visit BETS tomorrow (Saturday), with the A side home to Lurgan.

Portadown A could secure a top-three position inside NIBA Division One.

A two-shot defeat to leaders Whitehead disrupted Portadown seniors’ push for the overall prize.

However, points picked up at Divis - thanks to the rinks of Mark Sproule and Aidan Corrigan - proved important.

FINAL

Portadown will take on Dunbarton tonight (Friday) in Lurgan for the Alwood Shield.

The inter-club charity challenge - sponsored by Alfred Briggs of Alwood in association with Lurgan - will raise funds for Meningitis Trust.

The town players finished top of group one thanks to success for Sean Trainor’s rink by 12-11 against Hilden.

Defeat to Lisnagarvey proved the only setback as Portadown posted 120 shots across six rink tests, with 59 conceded.

Dunbarton claimed top spot in group two and play will run from 6 o’clock.
