Portadown Pumas’ Northern Ireland Rugby League campaign suffered a setback by 58-30 at home to Ballynahinch Rabbitohs.

The visitors, who arrived at Chambers Park with greater league experience, held control across the first half to restrict Pumas’ attacking threat.

Rabbitohs’ hold increased as play progressed with a string of four unanswered tries and number of conversions.

The town players regrouped for a strong second-half performance in the free-scoring fixture.

Pumas posted tries thanks to Pete Liggett, Mat Quin, James Carlton and John Purdy towards the 58-30 reverse.

Pumas remain in play-off contention.
