Killicomaine Junior High School girls celebrate reaching the Northern Ireland semi-finals for the first since 1992.

Killicomaine Junior High School pupils have booked a Northern Ireland semi-final spot for the first time since 1992.

Lucy McKimm, the team captain, claimed two goals as Killicomaine defeat Belfast High School.

The reward is a meeting with Royal School Armagh on February 21, with the venue to be confirmed.

Killicomaine gained control as play progressed, with coaching staff left impressed with commanding work at the back, strong tackling in midfield and penetrating attacking play.

It marks a first appearance in the Northern Ireland Junior Schools’ Hockey Cup since 1992 and adds to hopes of a return to the glory days enjoyed across the 1970s.

An open invitation has been extended to all past pupils to turn out and support Killicomaine in the semi-final clash.

Free transport will operate from Killicomaine.

Another boost is expected from Monday when work will start on the installation of an artificial pitch.
