Richhill’s Lizzie Colvin featured in every game as the Ireland bid for Olympic Games qualification finished with disappointment.

The former Portadown College student - now based in Dublin - helped Ireland women defeat South Africa, Uruguay and USA to top the four-fixture Pool B.

The World League Round Three quarter-final ended in shoot-out agony against China.

Saturday’s test with USA finished in a 6-1 reverse before closing the schedule on Sunday with a 4-0 defeat to South Africa in the seventh-place play-off.

Colvin, now 25 years old, gained her first senior international cap in 2008 against France during Ireland’s Celtic Cup play.

The midfielder lines out at club level with Loreto.

The 22-day programme in Spain served as an Olympic Games qualification tournament for the Rio 2016 event.

The leading six sides will now help form the final tally of 12 qualifying teams.
