St Mark's Terry Mulholland and Andrew Lecky celebrate success in the open pairs tournament hosted by Killinchy.

St Mark’s Terry Mulholland and Andrew Lecky came home top of the eight-strong field at Killinchy to secure open pairs glory.

The tournament - sponsored by BOWLS.UK.com - attracted players from the Armagh, Tyrone, Antrim, Monaghan and Down regions.

The St Mark’s players defeated Lisa Douglas and William Morrison from Ahoghill.

Mulholland and Lecky proved impressive, with the Irish internationals taking control of the jack.

Lecky produced a slick backhand drive - after four ends with the score at 3-2 - to clear Ahoghill and lie two shots.

It was 8-2 by seven ends and the precise play continued towards a convincing gap for Mulholland and Lecky before the Ahoghill rivals opted to concede.

Semi-final success was secured by Mulholland and Lecky over the Cookstown pairing of Michael Trimby and Tommy McAleavy.

A strong start left St Mark’s on a 7-2 advantage by five ends, with this momentum resulting in a well-earned win.

Douglas and Morrison defeated Carrickmacross’ Diurmid McMahon and Aiden Corrigan as a 6-1 gap by four ends set the standard towards a final appearance.
