Two sisters with Tandragee roots will represent Ireland next month at the World Alpine Ski Championships in America.

Victoria Bell and her younger sister, Florence, were born in England but compete for Ireland thanks to a family connection to County Armagh.

The girls’ father, Brian, is originally from the Tandragee area and both have happy holiday memories.

Twenty-year-old Victoria and Florence, 18, will take part with Ireland at Colorado’s Vail & Beaver Creek venue - marking a first event with both selected in the same squad.

The slalom and giant slalom events run, respectively, on February 12 and 14.

“This is a very exciting moment for us, to both be selected to represent Ireland at the same major event,” said the sisters. “To be able to compete together in Vail and to be able to support each other there is fantastic.

“It will also be a great opportunity to make some very special memories of such a proud moment that we can both share.”
