Sterritt seals memorial title across Tandragee programme

Stephen Sterritt secured the Charlie Maginnis Memorial prize at Tandragee thanks to 42 points off his 25 handicap.

He posted 20 points over the front nine and 22 across the return leg to collect the weekend honour.

Jeff Forde finished next in line on 41 points, with a countback boost arriving courtesy of 22 points during the leg back home.

Hamilton Loney had to settle for third overall - with John Haffey in front of Philip Hughes by a single point.

The gross was won by Stuart Paul’s two-under-par round of 69.

Jamie Stothers managed to match that score but lost out to Paul on the countback. The countback check was eventually settled on the final three holes of the front nine.

The Yellow Block competition placed Malcolm Lynch first on 37 points over William Fyfe following the back-nine count.

In the Tuesday Open Stableford, Peter Taylor posted 25 points for an excellent score off his seven handicap thanks to legs of, respectively, 21 and 24.

Samuel Wilson registered 42 points for runner-up overall and Jordan Laverty wrapped up the top-three placings.

The ladies’ vice-captain, Barbara Richardson, staged a midweek competition won by Bethany Thornbury on 40 points off a nine handicap.

Lavern Saunders was second on 34 points, followed by Suzy Walsh’s 33.
