Colin Turkington sparked into gear across the early stages of the British Touring Car Championship weekend at Snetterton by claiming an opening-race win.
The Portadown driver managed to edge his Silverline Subaru BMR Racing car home in front of the defending champion, Gordon Shedden.
Both drivers proved bumper-to-bumper for sustained periods before Turkington made his move on lap eight of 12.
That victory provided Turkington with the accolade of the season’s first three-time race winner.
Matt Jackson won the second race, with Shedden first in the final outing.
Race two featured a major multi-car collision that resulted in a stoppage. Turkington eventually came home as runner-up to Jackson.
The final race also included plenty of drama, with a red flag on show following contact then a last-lap victory for Shedden.
Turkington finished sixth to cap an afternoon that bolstered his overall points tally in the Drivers’ Championship.
