Portadown Cycling Club’s launch night proved the perfect platform on which to celebrate both current progress and plans for future development.

Sponsorship support from Portadown Fireplaces, Skye Fitness, Decor Wright and Sally McNally’s Restaurant has been crucial since the club’s formation in December 2014.

“We also receive tremendous support from Portadown Rugby Club,” said a Portadown Cycling Club spokesman. “Chambers Park not only hosted the launch event but also provide facilities and car parking to members on a weekly basis for meetings and runs.

“One Fitness, also based at Chambers Park, lend support by providing spin sessions to members during the winter period.

“We are delighted with the support received from local business.

“With their help we have established a club which we want to be an asset to the town.

We aim to represent Portadown in a positive way

“We aim to represent Portadown in a positive way at many sportives and races across the country, plus by organising events in support of local charities.

“Our club primarily has the focus on road cycling with a social feel, with many of our members from the town and surrounding areas.

“They ride for the pure leisure of cycling in their local area.

“Each week we offer group rides led by members over a variety of distances and speeds to ensure everyone has the chance to take part at the right level and enjoy being out on a bike.”
