Portadown-born Jamie Wright will fly out to Spain on Sunday for his first taste of life with Ireland’s senior hockey squad.
The 23-year-old is set to tackle the nation ranked ninth in the world standings over a two-match series.
Ireland face the hosts in Terrassa next Tuesday and Thursday and Wright is relishing the experience.
“It is going to be my first trip with the seniors squad so a great opportunity,” said Wright, who is now in a third season with Banbridge after leaving his hometown club. “I had a great time at Portadown but moved to help develop.
“I have enjoyed my progress over the past few years and this is another boost.”
Neil Gilmore, another Portadown-born player, has returned to Banbridge from town.
