Kilpatrick and Lutton on board for Circuit of Ireland challenge

MARKETHILL’S Clive Kilpatrick and Arnold Lutton from Portadown have been included on the entry list for this weekend’s Circuit of Ireland rally.

The two-day Donnelly Group-sponsored showpiece forms a round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and has attracted leading names from across the world for action today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).

The Easter fun will open today with a ceremonial start from Belfast City Hall and take in the Titanic Super Special Stage before heading towards Armagh.

Tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) schedule will start in Armagh at 8 o’clock before the prize ceremony from 7 o’clock that evening. A power stage in Lisburn is also expected to provide plenty of excitement.

“This will be my fourth Circuit of Ireland and I have Ian Johnson back reading the notes,” said Kilpatrick. “We are really looking forward to the long night stages in Friday and hope to get a clean run.

“Last year we had gearbox trouble on the opening stage but managed to finish 21st overall and with a class win despite just three working gears.

“Watch out for the Mitsubishi Evolution car number 37 in the National event!”

Kilpatrick would like to thank the following sponsors for such wonderful support: Crozier Motorsport, Lyons Karting.com, Triton Showers, M.Flevile Plant Hire Ltd, Crawford Cars.com, The Old Barn Restaurant in Markethill, Noel Eakin and Sons, cecilhaffey.co.uk and MT Waste.

The Circuit of Ireland event is the second-oldest rally in the world and dates back across almost 80 years.
