Perfect weekend for race ace Robinson thanks to maximum points return

Noel Robinson secured a full haul of points from his weekend Formula Ford appearance at Kirkistown.

The Portadown driver now holds a lead of 36 points after just two rounds.

Robinson has returned to the Formula Ford Championship for the first time since his 2000 title triumph and puts early progress down to advanced preparation.

“A lot of work was put in by the team during the winter months to get ready for this season,” said Robinson. “We decided to get back into the full championship and everything has been going well, with double pole, race wins and fastest laps on Saturday an excellent return.

“Anything can happen, of course, over the remaining rounds.”

Robinson can also point to double class success at Mondello Park in the opening round of his BOSS Ireland Formula Renault title defence.

Colin Turkington will take part this weekend at the Donington Historic Festival across two fronts.

The two-time British Touring Car Championship winner is set to get behind the wheel of a Corvette and BMW over the two-class challenge.

“I had a great time in 2014 when I competed at the Silverstone Classic for Sam Thomas Racing,” said Turkington. “The scene is more alive than ever.”
