The packed Kirkistown programme also included Jim Hutchinson from the area on the podium - plus a special appearance by the British Touring Car Championship’s Colin Turkington.

Portadown-born Turkington will return to his British commitments this weekend with a round at Oulton Park aiming to improve on his 22nd position in the Drivers’ Championship.

He accepted an invitation to return to his racing roots and tackle Kirkistown’s Tool Dynamics Supercars Series.

Hutchinson clocked up double success in the ASK Supercars/Saloons/GT class.

However, the main focus centred on Robinson thanks to double delight and two runner-up placings across two competitions.

Robinson clocked up two wins and double pole positions - plus a fastest lap bonus - for 43 points out of the 44 maximum on offer in the Formula Ford 1600 section.

His weekend commitment also extended to BOSS Ireland’s programme as he finished behind Cian Carey in both races.

“I still hold the BOSS Ireland lead overall by 11 points before Mondello Park across July 9 and 10,” said Robinson. “I am really enjoying the BOSS Ireland challenge, especially alongside the Formula Ford commitment.

“It does need an adjustment to jump between the two different commitments required over the Formula Ford and BOSS Ireland sections.

“I think I am the only driver moving between both at the minute but it is great fun.

“In the Formula Ford, I have a 49-point advantage over Alan Davidson but miss the next meeting in June because of holidays.

“Alan could cut the lead to five points if he picks up the total quota of points and it certainly looks set for an exciting finale to the season, with two rounds left after my return.”
