Turkington claims first British win for Subaru

Colin Turkington confirmed his place in Team BMR's history books on Sunday with a first British win for Subaru.

The Portadown driver left Oulton Park having claimed top spot in race one then strengthened his British Touring Car Championship position with second and seventh over the remaining tests.

Turkington qualified in pole position and proved slick around Oulton Park for a convincing success in the opening race.

He entered race two with ballast and had to settle for second, starting the final outing from sixth on the way to seventh.

“We had to work really hard for pole position,” said Turkington last weekend. “This is the jump we had hoped for, admittedly, Oulton Park does favour rear-wheel drive a little bit more, but even at Thruxton I could feel we had made a step forward with the chassis.

“We then had a productive test at Pembrey earlier in the week where we made further progress.

“And I am delighted to have come here and secured Subaru’s first BTCC pole and race win.

“I am thrilled for all the BMR team members who have put in a tremendous amount of hard work.”
