Green Baize teams enjoy home advantage in final
SNOOKER GREEN BAIZE C finished clear by a 3-2 margin during the Turkington Cup in-house showdown.
Green Baize B finished down following an entertaining County Armagh Snooker League final.

PLAYERS from the Green Baize Club all enjoyed home advantage during the Turkington Cup final – with the C team coming out on top overall by 3-2 against the B squad.
Steven Porter proved too strong for Trevor McConnell, the Green Baize B captain, in the opening tussle.
Scoring proved low before a string of three successive 16 breaks pushed Porter clear.
He managed to maintain this lead over the colours, with pots up to blue sealing a 76-26 win.
Stephen Hutchinson’s defeat of George McMullan left Green Baize C up by 2-0.
Safety tactics proved dominant, with McMullan disrupting Hutchinson’s normal rhythm before a run of fine play by the latter helped to overturn a 19-point deficit.
Hutchinson pushed on over the colours with pots on green, brown and blue towards the 73-42 win.
It was 2-1 overall following Conor Gillespie’s victory over Gareth Gillow during another hard-fought encounter.
Both players produced impressive spells, with play tight over the reds and into the colours before Gillespie enhanced his clinical edge to come home clear by 66-45.
Darren Gillow and Robert Armstrong met in the vital fourth game – with the high stakes evident in the cautious approach by each player.
The colours provided plenty of talking points, however, as Gillow claimed yellow, green and brown before Armstrong sealed blue.
Gillow managed to sink the pink from a tight angle and engineer perfect position on the black for a five-point success and title-winning frame.
The final game placed Stuart Wells up over Robert Porter.
Gareth Gillow, the Green Baize C captain, collected the prize from a league official.
