MSM CUP (FINAL)
GREEN BAIZE B 3 LEGIONAIRES 2

JEFF Hendren lost out to Stuart Wells in the opening frame despite a positive start by the Legionaires player.

Hendren’s early run included a 13 break but Wells then enjoyed the upper hand ahead of the colours.

Pots on yellow, green, brown and blue provided Wells with a 14 break and Hendren proved determined but unsuccessful overall.

George McMullan doubled the Green Baize advantage with a win over Kyle Nesbitt.

Scoring opportunities proved restricted but McMullan generated momentum with a medium break.

Nesbitt managed to escape from a snooker attempt but McMullan produced pots on yellow, green, brown and blue.

It was 40-32 as McMullan wrapped up success with the pink.

Legionaires’ trophy push remained alive when Edward Quin defeated Robert McConnell during a thrilling clash.

Both players enjoyed early pots before Quin posted a 35 break but McConnell hit back to close the deficit.

McConnell regrouped and attempted a late surge before Quin secured the blue, pink and black.

The fourth game was won by Trevor McConnell – the Green Baize captain – to confirm the destination of the title.

Medium breaks arrived across the initial stages before Gillanders potted the brown.

However, superb pots were produced by McConnell to set up a gripping black-ball battle which the Green Baize man secured courtesy of a double.

The closing frame was won by Kyle Black over Robert Armstrong.
