McCrea second in Tampa Bay test

EQUESTRIAN JONATHAN McCrea - the Annaghmore showjumper now based in America - finished second at the recent Tampa Bay Welcome Grand Prix.

McCrea rode ‘Twisther’ in the competition at the Florida State Fairgrounds. He was the final rider to take his turn in the jump-off.

McCrea had won the previous day’s 1.30 Open Jumper Classic and completed the jump-off in 36.37 seconds, leaving every rail in place.

He finished second overall to America’s Molly Ashe-Cawley.

“We tried to go for the time but going clear was more important,” said McCrea. “Twisther is a great horse and we had nothing to lose.

“There were just three clear rounds in the jump-off of 10 horses.”
