Riding high at Silverwood in Mounted Games

EQUESTRIAN THE Silverwood venue attracted over 120 competitors for the recent Mounted Games.

The Mounted Games discipline features fast relay races and calls for athletic ability, riding skill, hand-to-eye co-ordination and determination.

The event was staged by the Northern Ireland Mounted Games Association in partnership with Craigavon Borough Council.

Riders from the United States of America, England, Scotland and Wales signed up to compete across age groups from the over 40s to under 12s.

"This prestigious event is the focal point of the year for Mounted Games," said the Deputy Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Kieran Corr. "I am delighted it attracted such a high number of international visitors to our wonderful borough.

"The event provided a great opportunity to showcase Silverwood Equestrian Centre as the venue for next year's European Mounted Games Championships.

"I would like to congratulate the winners and everyone else involved in the thrilling event."
