From Easter egg hunts to steam train rides, we’ve put together a list of what’s happening in the Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne areas to help keep all the family entertained over the Easter break.
5. Take a steam train ride in Whitehead
The popular Easter steam train rides will return on Easter Monday, April 1 at Whitehead Excursion Station. Included in the ticket price is a short steam train ride at the station, along with admission to the five-gallery museum. Hauled by the 105 year-old locomotive No.3BG 'Guinness', passengers will be transported to a bygone area in a carriage in which a certain boy wizard would feel right at home. There will be children’s activities on site throughout the day, as well as the Easter Bunny Treasure Hunt. Trains will run every 30 minutes from 11am until 3pm. Tickets need to be booked in advance and cannot be booked online on the day of the event; please visit https://www.steamtrainsireland.com/whats-on/89/easter-steam Photo: NI World
6. Pop into the Bear Hospital in Larne
Bear Hospital returns to the pop-up shop in Larne (4 Upper Main Street) on Good Friday, March 29 from 11am-3.30pm. Organised by the Big Telly Theatre Company, the event will allow visitors to meet the zaniest doctors, the nuttiest nurses, and the cutest bears. On the day, there are also prizes to be won on the Easter Chick Hunt - simply collect the clue sheet and find the large eggs around the town. Each clue has a letter that will spell out the name of the Easter Chick. The event is free but booking is essential; visit https://buytickets.at/bigtellytheatrecompany/1181774 Photo: congerdesign from Pixabay
