Band steps out to raise awareness for Marie Curie

ON Saturday in Ballymoney members of Ballykeel Loyal Sons Of Ulster FB Ballymena will complete a sponsored march on behalf of Marie-Curie cancer care during the Dunloy Accordion band parade.

Their idea is to raise as much cash as possible to help what is now one of the UK's leading cancer charities, Marie Curie. A number of 'cancer parades' as they were known are yet being held to this day to raise cash for their said charities.

The spokesman for Ballykeel, David Young said: '' This has been an idea by the members of our organisation for a number of months now.

“We try to run at least one event per year to support local charities.

“Previously we have run function's which have raised over 500 pounds for many of our local charities, last year’s being the George Sloan Centre Ballymena, which cares for and teaches a varied range of skills to people with learning difficulties.

“This year we anticipate that the sponsored march we have organised will be our greatest success to date and hope that we can raise lots of cash for our chosen charity and raise awareness of the good work their professionals carry out throughout the year in thousands of homes across the UK.''
