Sentinel owner creates special post to sell ads on websites

THE owner of the Londonderry Sentinel and the Belfast Newsletter has grabbed the digital bull by the horns and created a new advertising post dedicated to selling space specifically on its newspapers’ websites.

The aim is to use online content on the group’s websites to sell ads and substantially increase revenue streams from this source.

Johnston Press (NI) also owns the Derry Journal and a range of local titles across Northern Ireland.

Its parent company owns The Scotsman, The Yorkshire Post and the Limerick Leader.

The new digital advertising senior sales executive will be tasked with selling online ad space for 18 regional newspaper websites in NI, including the Londonderry Sentinel, although the position will be based at Craigavon.

According to the job notice: “An exciting new position has been created within Johnston Press, now the regional publisher with the highest online audience in the United Kingdom.

“The position has been created to sell innovative, market leading, online advertising solutions for 18 regional newspaper websites and mobile sites across Northern Ireland and on further sites within the Republic of Ireland.
