Black Keys ditch their bold sound
Black Keys new album breaks the template from previous offerings.
Their last two discs were top heavy with big, bold tunes while ‘Turn Blue’ gets started at a snail’s pace with slow-burning ‘Weight Of Love’. It’s not until current single ‘Fever’ that we achieve lift off. Sadly it’s the only real time the band bare their teeth on this 11 track album.
The overall vibe is one of mid-tempo garage rock with subtle blues nuances best showcased in the tail-end track ‘In Our Prime’. GC
