‘Walking the Colours’ exhibition

COUNCILLOR Sam Cole, the newly elected mayor of Coleraine welcomed cross border visitors from Drogheda and Letterkenny to the Walking the Colours exhibition in Coleraine Town Hall.

The exhibition which explores traditions of banners and parades as practised by a wide range of organisations across the local area is part of the North East PEACE III Cultural Fusions heritage based project.

Sean Corcoran, Chairman of the Old Drogheda Society and Jim McArdle, of Millmount Museum, were thanked for generously lending the exhibition two of their splendid Guild banners, which date back to the start of the nineteenth century.

Judith McCarthy, Curator of Donegal County Museum also attended and expressed her delight and anticipation at hosting the Walking the Colours exhibition in the Donegal County Museum in Letterkenny.

Walking the Colours will be displayed there during July, August and September before it moves onto Monaghan, Limavady and Ballymoney.

This exhibition continues in Coleraine until Thursday and is open from 11am to 4pm. Entrance is free.
