Dunmurry High pupils get voting

PUPILS in Dunmurry High School recently took part in a UK-wide book award organised by School Library Association (SLA).

The SLA Information Book Award is an annual event celebrating information books, and is designed to support school libraries and to reinforce the importance of non-fiction while highlighting the high standard of resources available.

Pupils at DHS were given the opportunity to read and enjoy the selection of non fiction books from the short listed titles and then vote for their favourites in three different categories. While pupils were very torn about their choices, the overall favourite was ‘Stories about Surviving Gangs and Bullying’ by Michaela Miller. The award ceremony for the winning authors will take place in November in Bangor Grammar School.
