St. Olcan’s pupils donate to CRS

The pledge was made when two members of the Rescue Service, based in Ballycastle, attended the school to deliver a demonstration of their duties, but also to receive a cheque following a well-supported coffee morning and cake sale.

Gerard McIlroy and Francis McFetridge were delighted to accept a cheque for £320 from principal, Mrs. Marion Lewis, and, fittingly, from Patrick McFetridge and Orla McIlroy, children of the CRS representatives.

Both Gerard and Francis said they were delighted to receive funding since they were solely dependent solely on public support.

Mrs. Lewis said it was fitting that the Community Rescue Service was chosen given that two of their pupils had dads associated with the organisation.

She thanked everyone who contributed to the coffee morning and the public for their support.

Mrs. Lewis revealed that the CRS had offered to take the children on a boat along the River Bann for a closer insight into how the volunteers carried out their duties.
