Back to school with Translink’s Pupil Pass

Travelling by public transport is a safe and cost effective way for kids to travel to school and the experience provides children with independence and helps develop social skills.

Stephen Campbell, brand coordinator said: “Pupil Passes represent an ideal solution for children who do not qualify for free travel passes. Carrying a Pupil Pass also means that kids don’t have to carry cash for tickets and provides parents with peace of mind.

“If your child will not be travelling by bus every day, they also have the option of using a Smartlink card which can be pre-loaded with a number of journeys and used as and when needed. These journeys are valid for one year and you can top up any time at a wide range of convenience stores throughout Northern Ireland.”

Translink is Northern Ireland’s principal school transport service provider carrying over 65,000 school pupils every day. Safety is of paramount importance on all Translink services. On all Translink dedicated school bus services seat belts are fitted. Translink regularly appeal for the support from parents, teachers and the wider society to also encourage young people to belt up on the bus where there is one provided.

Translink’s Safety Bus visits primary and secondary schools to address safety issues.

Initiatives such as the educational resource pack and ‘Travel Safe’ DVD are also aimed at encouraging pupils to stay safe on public transport.
