In conjunction with Carrickfergus Council, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) will be re-enacting the infamous 17th century siege of Carrickfergus Castle by Williamite General Schomberg and the landing of King William.

NIEA Archaeologist Edith Logue said: “This annual Pageant marks an important milestone in the history of both the Castle and the town. It provides families and visitors alike with a taste of these significant historical events which took place here.”

This exciting free family event will include re-enactment groups from across the country, all dressed in period costume, followed by a pageantry parade to meet King William upon his landing.

Various other Living History events, including fights and weaponry demonstrations in the castle and numerous crafts and food stalls run by the Council outside, will be taking place between 12pm and 5pm.
