The now traditional Jake’s Coffee Morning is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) at Country Comes To Town and it will send the proceeds well past the £12,000 mark.
It’s in aid of the Children’s Heartbeat Trust and the Down’s Syndrome Association and will be at the Masonic Hall, Thomas Street, from 10am-4pm.
Jake Flaherty, who had Down’s Syndrome and serious heart defects, died a couple of years ago, just after his second birthday. And his parents Julie and Wayne keep his memory alive by organising fund-raising events. The coffee morning is one of the most important and raises substantial sums of money.
Said Julie, “The cash from the past three events raised £9,300 and the sum after tomorrow will push the total past £12,000 – last year alone, £3,000 was raised.”
Tea, coffee and other refreshments are available on the day, and everyone is welcome to nip up and have a break on the Flahertys’ special day. A face painter will be there at 11am.
