Guest speaker at the February meeting of Loughgall Women’s Institute was local historian Billy Peilow.
He gave a comprehensive account of the Poor Law and workhouse in Armagh during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Mr Peilow also judged the monthly competition for the oldest coin.
The winner was Priscilla Anderson whose Egyptian coin dated back to the second century BC. Second and third prizes were assigned to Janet Kells and Ethne Elliott respectively.
The raffle prizes were won by Eva Alexander and Aggie Elliott.
