Come along to the Barn Museum at Tannaghmore Gardens tomorrow (Saturday) and make some stunning decorations for your Christmas tree and unique gift boxes to give to that someone special – all to a World War 1 theme.
Children will be able to make their own traditional Irish straw decorations including corn dollies and Christmas stars using different wrapping and tying techniques, all under the expert guidance of Straw Craft Ireland.
Then on Sunday the Barn Museum will host Christmas gift box workshops that have been inspired by the Princess Mary Christmas box tins delivered to serving soldiers at the front in 1914.
This workshop will allow children to make their own Christmas boxes complete with handmade gifts and decorations typical of the time...perfect to give to that someone special.
All workshops take place from 2pm to 4pm each day and are aimed at children aged eight to 12 years old. The workshops are free but numbers are limited so booking is essential by calling 028 3831 1669 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
The workshops are run by Craigavon’s Museum Services and form part of the Museum’s ‘Living with World War 1’ programme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (NI).
