UPPER MLA Jo-Anne Dobson got on her bike at Stormont this week for the annual MLAs’ fun bike race at Parliament Buildings.

The Department for Regional Development Travelwise NI initiative ‘Two Wheels: Two Weeks’ which runs from June 16 to 24 will see thousands of people of all cycling abilities taking part in a wide range of events, celebrating National Bike Week.

Mrs Dobson said, “Bike Week is always great fun and is designed to encourage people to get on their bikes and enjoy the healthy, environmental and economic benefits associated with cycling.

“Cycling has many benefits which can be enjoyed by everyone whether it’s a journey to work or school or a family day out. It’s a super opportunity to get fit and be environmentally friendly at the same time.

“Hopefully this event at Stormont can help to encourage the public to incorporate more sustainable modes of transport, such as cycling, into their daily lives.”

Local councils, employers, schools and cycling organisations have organised a wide variety of cycling events for everyone.
