Spending an afternoon with your four legged friend and getting out on a walk is important, especially when you live in a busy city.
Here are some of the best dog-friendly walks in and around Belfast this Autumn..
5. Belvoir Park Forest
One of the best spots to walk your dog in Belfast, Belvoir Park Forest, boasts a looping network of paths set amongst a woodland forest. Opened to the public in 1961 and set alongside the south bank River Lagan, this impressive spot covers 75 hectares and is only a 25 minute drive from the centre of Belfast. 6. Stormont Estate
Home to the government buildings of Northern Ireland, Stormont Estate is the ideal spot to walk your dog. Featuring a variety of walks, including two woodland trails, there is also a dedicated dog park, where dogs can go without their lead and let loose. The Estate has also been awarded the prestigious Green Flag award, recognising it as an outstanding green space in Northern Ireland.
7. Giant's Ring
This dog-friendly walk on the outskirts of Belfast takes in views of woodlands, wild flowers, farmland and the ancient Giant's Ring monument. A looped 2.2 mile trail, it's suitable for variety of walking levels and is a chance to get lost in nature, whilst being a stones throw away from the city. 8. Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park
Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park was opened to the public in 1959 by Lady Dixon, in memory to her husband Thomas. It boasts over 128 acres and features woodland walks, a walled garden, a Japanese-style garden and is home to the City of Belfast International Rose Garden.
