Rosstulla pupils win Anti-Bullying Week prizes

ROSSTULLA School pupils Emma Lowry and Jack Forsythe have been awarded special merit prizes in a Northern Ireland wide Anti-Bullying Week competition.

The Jordanstown school children were named among the winners at the ‘Everybody is Somebody’ awards ceremony held at Titanic Belfast on Tuesday, November 20.

Organised as part of this year’s Anti-Bullying Week (November 19 - 23), the competition urged children and young people to submit art or creative writing entries using the theme of ‘Everybody is Somebody’.

Out of the 1,200 entries from schools and youth groups across Northern Ireland, Emma (10) and Jack (8) were awarded special merit prizes.

Congratulating all the pupils who were awarded prizes, Education Minister John O’Dowd said: “The volume of entries to this competition shows that our young people feel strongly that bullying is an important issue. Bullying is damaging to individuals and to their education and I encourage schools and pupils to work together to eradicate bullying.”

All the winning entries are available to view on the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum website - www.endbullying.org.uk
