The Broighter Gold Hoard

FOR the first of its Autumn lectures, the North Coast Association of the National Trust will welcome the return of well-known local historian Jim Hunter, who will describe the extraordinary history of the Broighter Gold Hoard.

This spectacular treasure was discovered in a field near Limavady in 1896 and, following a lengthy legal case between London’s British Museum and Dublin, found its way into Dublin’s National Museum, where it still is. Jim will also investigate the folklore and archaeology surrounding the hoard and will illustrate his lecture with photographic slides and sound recordings.

Jim’s talk will take place in the Magherabuoy House Hotel, Portrush on Tuesday, September 4 at 8pm.

All are welcome. Admission, payable at the door, is £4.00 and includes tea/coffee and biscuits after the talk.
