Portadown band Microlip have teamed up with BNL productions to release a special Christmas single and video in support of Simon Community Northern Ireland.
The band had the idea of recording their own version of Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmas Time with an accompanying video that shows a homeless person’s perspective of Christmas.
“We had the idea of recording the track in a much more ironic way to say that there’s lots of people out there who aren’t going to have a wonderful Christmas because they’ll be spending it on the streets,” said lead singer Jaime McDonald.
“But with the help of the Simon Community they can make a real difference in people’s lives and we wanted to help the work they do in some small way.”
The Simon Community are a voluntary organisation that is based in Northern Ireland which provides emergency accommodation, advice and community support for people who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
The video was shot in Belfast by BNL productions and is available to view online on our website or through Microlip’s facebook page at www.facebook.com/mircolip or BNL’s page at www.facebook.com/bnlproductions.
You can donate £3 to the Simon Community by texting the word “SIMON” to 70660. So far over £2,000 has been raised since it was released a week ago.
