Creggan army camp to run down. The Army Camp at Creggan in Londonderry is to be reduced early in 1980 in conjunction with development of military facilities elsewhere. There will continue to be “a small residual Army presence and the aerial tower,” according to a spokesman at Brigade Headquarters. The Army, in response to a request by the Mayor, Councillor Patrick Devine, has offered certain surplus buildings to the City Council.

Executive Challenged. The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has defended its decision to class as an illegal occupant the son of a deceased tenant of a bungalow at Nelson Drive, Londonderry, writes Sentinel reporter Derek Plews. When the matter was reported in last week’s edition a DUP member of Londonderry City COuncil, Mrs Anna Hay, promised she would stand behind the man in his fight to retain the tenancy of the dwelling.
